Note: In most use cases, the Attribute Editor Point Cloud Task has been deprecated by the introduction of the Feature Analyst dialog and revamped Schema Editor
in v2017.1.
About the Attribute Editor Point Cloud Task
The Attribute Editor Point Cloud Task allow you to modify, add, delete, and prompt for input values for attributes associated with shapefiles. This is useful as several point cloud tasks generate shape files as the final product, which may contain several features and have few predetermined attributes. This point cloud task can be chained with existing point cloud tasks in a macro.
Overview of the Attribute Editor Property Page
From the 'Main Properties Page', select the following ways to set attributes:
Input Datasets
Input Geometry
The input Tool Geometry, File, or Layer. These are set using the IO Manager.
Settings
Edit Fields
This button brings up the Edit Fields dialog. The Edit Fields dialog allows you to import the schema from an existing DBF file, add new fields, edit existing fields, and remove the existing fields.
Field Name, Type, and Action Grid
The grid that shows the 'Field Name', 'Type', and 'Action' columns is a read-only grid showing what fields are going to be added, removed, set to a default value, or prompted for the attribute value.
Non-Specified
Pass through
Allows you to bulk set an action on non-specified fields in the grid above. Selecting the 'Pass through' option copies the attribute values of fields that are not specified in the grid from the input file/layer to the output file.
Delete
Selecting the 'Delete' option removes non-specified fields from the grid in the output file.
Output Datasets
Output File
You may set the output file using the IO Manager.
