About Shifting

The Shift Tool offers you the capability to shift the x, y, and/or z components of the points within a LAS file. Negative values act as a subtraction from the existing points whereas positive values are added to the existing points. A value of zero has no effect on the specified point component (i.e., x, y, or z).

How to Shift LAS Files

If you cannot locate the "Shift LAS File" tool, please visit the Using LP360 in ArcToolbox™ to learn how to add tools to ArcToolbox.

1. Click the open folder button.
2. Navigate to the folder that contains one or more LAS files.
3. Select the LAS file(s) and click "Open". Use the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys to select multiple LAS files if necessary.
4. Input a value in the X, Y, and Z Shift fields. Values of zero indicate that no change will occur to that particular point component (i.e., x, y, or z).
5. Click the open folder button to select the "... Output Folder".
6. Navigate to a folder where the shifted LAS files can be created, and click the "Add" button.
7. Once all inputs have been satisfied, click the "OK" button in the ArcToolbox window to begin the shift operation.

Tip A summary dialog will appear during the shifting process. Use the "Cancel" button to cancel the shifting process or "Details" button to toggle the details of the process.
