About Reprojecting

LAS files may be in a less desirable coordinate system (Ex: Geographic, as opposed to a projected system such as Stateplane or UTM). This tool can be used to reproject the points in a LAS file to the desired coordinate system.

How to Reproject LAS Files

If you cannot locate the "Reproject LAS File" tool, please visit the Using LP360 in ArcToolbox™ to learn how to add tools to ArcToolbox.

1. Click the open folder button.
2. Navigate to the folder that contains one or more LAS files.
3. Select the LAS file(s) and click "Open". Use the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys to select multiple LAS files if necessary.
4. Click the button for the "... Incoming Spatial Reference".
5. Select a spatial reference system that represents the selected LAS files and click the "OK" button.
6. Click the button for the "... Outgoing Spatial Reference".
7. Select a spatial reference system that you wish to reproject the LAS files to and click the "OK" button.
8. Click the open folder button to select the "... Output Folder".
9. Navigate to a folder where the reprojected LAS files can be created, and click the "Add" button.
10. Once all inputs have been satisfied, click the "OK" button in the ArcToolbox window to begin the reprojection.

Tip A summary dialog will appear during the reprojection process. Use the "Cancel" button to cancel the reprojection process or "Details" button to toggle the details of the process.
