About Centerline Shapes

The Create Centerline Shapes check box allows you to turn on and off the creation of the rail centerline vector SHP file. The browse button opens the standard I/O Manager dialog, allows you to set the path to where the file should be created. You may also choose to display the centerline in the map using the Add to Map option in the I/O Manager.

How To Create Centerline Shapes

1. Define a Rail Extractor Point Cloud Task as described in the Rail Extractor topic.
2. Select Create Centerline Shapes to create a vector SHP file for the rail centerline.
3. Click the browse button next to the Create Centerline Shapes field. The I/O Manager dialog will display again.
4. In the I/O Manager dialog, select the location where you want the file to be created.
5. Under Output Mode, select Append if you would like the centerline to be combined with the existing file (if it exists) or Overwrite to replace its contents with the new centerline vector. 
6. If you want the SHP opened and the centerline displayed in the current map display, click Add to Map.
7. Complete the setup of the Rail Extraction task and click Apply.
