Using a Height Filter
About Using a Height Filter
Using a Height Filter during the execution of the planar
filter uses the minimum and maximum object height parameters
to eliminate points above a ground surface from consideration. Using
a height filter is particularly useful for eliminating planes
that are not objects of interest because they are too low or too high
from the ground surface. For example when using a planar filter to
locate building points, points below a minimum object height can eliminate
cars, trucks, or even smaller objects such as dog houses that are
not desired.
Using a height filter in general will classify less points, but will
increase the overall accuracy of the filter. It is highly suggested
to produce expected results that a height filter be used in conjunction
with the planar filter. When using a height filter you must also define
a ground point filter which defines the point classes to use as a
ground surface.
