On the properties page for a Point Cloud Task and other tools within LP360, selecting the Input Feature Geometry defines the features to be used as input for processing and/or to define the area to apply the process. The selection can be an existing layer in the map, a dataset that you specify, or the interactive <Tool Geometry> typically recommended for Point Cloud Tasks. The input geometry can be a point, line, or polygon type but not all tools are available for each geometry type. For example, the downstream constraint method cannot be used with point input geometry.
How to Define the Input Feature Geometry/Data Set
Open Dataset Command
- Define a Point Cloud Task or open a tool with this property.
- Within the properties window, next to 'Feature Geometry', press the browse button '...' ellipses to open the I/O Manager dialog with the Input Feature Geometry property for the tool enabled for edit.
- In the I/O Manager, specify the Feature Layer by selecting the dropdown arrow and select one of the Layers available in the list. Only the Feature Layers currently open in LP360 are available, so if you want to use a Layer other than one listed, you must first open it using Create Feature Layer. To be prompted to provide the feature layer when you execute the Point Cloud Task, select the <Tool Geometry> option. Typically recommended.
- Complete the setup of the Point Cloud Task properties and select Apply to save.
