Requires an LP360 Land Standard or an LP360 Drone license.
The Immersive Image Explorer embedded within the Immersive Viewer allows users to navigate through images aligned with point cloud data and offering a ground-level immersive experience akin to Google Street View. The Immersive Image Explorer is designed to:
- Display images from their optical center.
- Overlay point clouds and imagery for contextual analysis.
- Allow toggling of visual layers for focused inspection.
- Displays photos from any visible photo layer in the Table of Contents (TOC).
The Immersive Image Explorer toolbar allows the user to toggle between Geo Images and Street View Images
available in a project.
Enable/Disable Immersive Image Explorer
Enable Immersive Image Explorer
Toggles the Immersive Image Explorer within the Immersive View. When enabled, it activates a contextual toolbar that includes tools for navigating panoramic imagery and point cloud overlays.
Close Immersive Image Explorer
Exits the Immersive Image Explorer and returns the user to the standard Immersive View. Selecting this tool closes the contextual toolbar and resets the view state.
Immersive Image Picker
Activates a picker that lets users select a location (first click) and viewing direction (drag in viewing direction) in the Map to enter Immersive Image Explorer. Remembers the last station and view direction when toggling Immersive Image Explorer off and back on.
Immersive 3-D Image Picker
Activates a picker that lets users select a location (first click) and viewing direction (drag in viewing direction) in the Immersive View to enter Immersive Image Explorer. Remembers the last station and view direction when toggling Immersive Image Explorer off and back on.
Immersive Image Explorer Navigation
These arrows indicate the direction of the trajectory from within the displayed photo and are fluidly modified as the user defines the viewing orientation. These navigation arrows provide a means for the user to navigate to the next/previous photo along the trajectory.
Show Image in Immersive Image Explorer
Toggles the visibility of the images in the view. The button dynamically switches between "show images" and "hide images" depending on the current state. The default state is ON when Immersive Image Explorer is enabled. The state resets to ON with each new session.
Show Point Cloud in Immersive Image Explorer
Toggles the visibility of point cloud data overlaid on the imagery. The button dynamically switches between "show point clouds" and "hide point clouds". The default state is ON when Immersive Image Explorer is enabled. The state resets to ON with each new session.
Immersive Image Explorer Mode: Geo Images or Street View Images
Toggles the Immersive Image Explorer display between Geo Images and Street View Images
when available in a project.
Geo Images: Sensor-Based, Frame-Oriented Imagery
Geo Images typically refer to images captured by drone-mounted or handheld sensors like those used in GeoCue’s TrueView systems. These images are:
- Frame-based: Captured as discrete frames, often from downward-facing or oblique cameras.
- Geotagged: Each image is tagged with precise GNSS coordinates and orientation metadata.
- Used in LiDAR workflows: Integrated with point cloud data for colorization, accuracy assessment, and 3D modeling.
- Processed in LP360: Geo Images are post-processed to generate orthomosaics and are used for tasks like ground classification and contour generation.
In LP360, Geo Images are often the default when panoramic data isn’t available or when the camera setup doesn’t support immersive capture.
Street View Images: Panoramic, Immersive Visuals
Street View Images are:
- Panoramic or 360-degree: Captured using multi-camera rigs or spherical cameras like the TrueView GO 360 Photo Kit and a dual purpose mobile mapping and drone lidar system equipped with a Teledyne FLIR LadyBug.
- Immersive: Designed to replicate the experience of standing in a location and looking around.
- Used for inspection and annotation: LP360 supports Street View-style layers for immersive inspection and annotation workflows.
- Cloud-integrated: These images are uploaded with automatic decompression for immediate viewing in LP360 Cloud.
