True Pose® Photos are geotagged images that include full six Degrees of Freedom (6DOF) positioning data—latitude, longitude, altitude, yaw, pitch, and roll—along with camera calibration metadata embedded in the EXIF tags. These enhanced photos are typically generated through post-processing workflows like PPK (Post-Processed Kinematic) using tools in LP360.
The True Pose photo tags are:
-
Position Quality tag
-
Calibration tag (true or False)
-
Orientation Quality tag
-
Position tags
-
Orientation tags
-
Camera Calibration fields (if Camera Calibration = true)
-
Coordinate Reference System (CRS) WKT package
They are designed to:
- Enable precise spatial alignment with LIDAR data.
- Support 3D visualization and feature extraction workflows.
- Be used independently of full project metadata, allowing lightweight delivery of just LAS files and True Pose Photos for downstream analysis.
How They’re Created and Used
-
Tagging Process: Photos are tagged with True Pose metadata using tools like Update EXIF Tags
or Assign True Pose Tags.
-
Integration in LP360: Once tagged, these photos can be imported into LP360 where they behave like fully processed images from a complete TrueView Cycle. This allows users to click on LIDAR points and view corresponding images in Image Explorer
. True Pose® Photos are required as input to the Agisoft Ortho Mapping
, Ortho Mapping
and Export Photo Package
tools.
- Applications: These photos are used in orthophoto generation, 3D visualization, and inspection workflows (e.g., earthen dam inspections).
