The Add Files dialog is used to open LAS files, Raster files and Feature/Shape files, Photos, Cloud LAS, and add them as one or more layers to the map. Once a layer is added, you can view it, along with any other opened layers, in the Table of Contents (TOC). You can use the TOC list to display or turn off display of layers, organize the list of opened layers, and modify the layer's properties using the right-click menu. Layers are integrated into the LP360 user interface. When a layer is created and added to the map, the layer is listed as another layer in the Table of Contents (TOC) view. It can be turned on or off, dragged up or down in the layers collection, and modified to have different layer properties.
In the Add Files dialog on the Project tab of the ribbon, you can select one or more files to add using the
button
, or select one (or more) folders to recursively add the files from using the Recursively Add from Folder
button
. Select a file or files in the Files List and use the
button to Remove the selected file(s) or Remove all files from the grid using the
button.
The selected files will be grouped into layers, depending on certain criteria, so that only compatible LAS files will be on a single layer. Criteria required for compatibility include:
- The coordinate system (when available)
- LAS or LAZ format version
- Point Data Record Format (PDRF)
- GPS Time format
LAS files must have these four criteria in common to be considered compatible and grouped into the same layer. LP360 will create as many layers as necessary to represent each file selected to be opened.
You can add multiple layer types (LAS, Raster, Feature, and/or Photo) at one time on the Add Files dialog.
An "undefined" Project Coordinate Reference System (CRS) will be automatically set by the Add Files dialog when only LAS, Raster or Feature layer is added.
If all three types are added at the same time, the priority used to set the Project CRS is:
- LAS
- Raster
- Feature
The file list displays detailed information in columns for every file selected to be added. This information is extracted from the file header. You can click the columns to sort the data and determine which files are compatible (based on the criteria above). By default, only basic information columns are displayed, but you can click the Show Advanced Columns button above the window to display much more information.
See Add LAS Files File List for more information about the LAS file information displayed in this dialog.
