Applicable to TrueView 680 or 720 3DIS models only. Requires a Riegl MTA Resolution License.
The Riegl RiUNITE utility is fully integrated within LP360 and should be used during Geocoding to support Multiple Time Around (MTA) zones for TrueView systems that contain Riegl laser scanners with this capability. MTA, a concept in LiDAR systems that deals with range ambiguity - a situation where multiple laser pulses are in the air simultaneously, potentially causing confusion in determining the correct return signal.
In Riegl’s terminology, MTA zones (also referred to as MPiA: Multiple Pulses in the Air) define how many laser pulses are in flight at once. These zones are influenced by:
- Pulse Repetition Rate (PRR)
- Flying altitude
- Sensor configuration
The goal is to minimize the number of simultaneous pulses to reduce ambiguity and improve measurement accuracy. For example, flying at 120m AGL with a PRR of 1200 kHz may push the system into MTA3+, which could introduce errors unless properly managed. i.e. Using this utility can significantly reduce the noise in datasets from these sensors.
The user will not need to separately run this utility but must install the utility and activate the applicable scanner specific Riegl license on the machine prior to performing the Geocoding . Failure to install RiUNITE will display "Could not find Riegl RiUNITE" if the user has selected the Process with RiUNITE option.
Download/Install RiUNITE
- Start LP360 desktop and sign in to your LP360 Online account.
- Select the Download from Cloud
tool on the Cloud Tab of the ribbon in LP360.
- Browse in the Support Cloud folder, download the ReiglInstaller locally to the machine.
- Once the download is complete, unzip the file and run the RiKinematicLiDARSoftwareSetup executable using the right click Run as Administrator option to install RiUNITE and the Riegl LicenseCenter utilities.
Licensing RiUNITE
- As the admin for an organization, login to the LP360 Portal.
- In the Admin -> Organization section, find the field listed as "Riegl MTA Resolution License for XXXSNXXX w/ SXXXXXXX", where XXXSNXXX is your TrueView payload serial number.
- On the right side of this row, you will find a tool to copy the Riegl license key.
- Open the Riegl LicenseCenter that was installed with RiUNITE.
- In the Riegl LicenseCenter dialog, select Add on the right side of the dialog.
- In the Add License dialog, paste the license key that was copied from the LP360 Portal.
The Riegl License is now active, and the user can utilize Process with RiUNITE option of Geocoding .
