The AI Classification tab in the LP360 ribbon consolidates cloud‑powered artificial intelligence classification workflows and related post‑processing tools into a single, streamlined ribbon. Formerly known as the Ground Classification tab prior to v2026.1, this ribbon reflects LP360’s transition from traditional, rule‑based classification toward AI‑assisted point cloud segmentation and feature extraction.
The tools on this tab allow users to submit classification jobs to LP360 Cloud, review and refine AI‑generated results, and generate downstream surface and vector products from classified point clouds.
AI Tools Group
The AI Tools group provides access to LP360’s cloud‑executed AI classification engines.
-
AI Ground Only
🆕 (formerly AI Ground Classification)
Submits a cloud‑based AI job that classifies point cloud data into ground and non‑ground returns using a pre‑trained deep learning model. This tool is designed to significantly reduce manual ground cleanup compared to traditional adaptive TIN‑based classification methods. -
AI Ground+ Classification 🆕
Extends AI Ground Only by classifying additional above‑ground feature classes beyond ground. This may include features such as vegetation, buildings, walls, vehicles, bridge decks, and water surfaces, enabling more complete automated point cloud segmentation. -
AI Forestry 🆕
Provides AI‑powered workflows specifically designed for forestry environments. These tools focus on tree‑level analysis, including tree segmentation and forestry‑oriented feature extraction, producing outputs suitable for forestry inventory and analysis workflows. -
AI Utilities 🆕
Offers specialized AI classification built for transmission line workflows to extract wires and structures for faster utility analysis. This may include features such as ground, canopy, wires, towers and related infrastructure, enabling more complete automated point cloud segmentation.
Cleanup Tools
-
Cleanup
Tools designed to assist with post‑classification refinement, including correcting misclassified points and smoothing classification boundaries after manual or automated processing. - Reset Classes
Reverts classification changes back to their previous state, allowing users to discard cleanup edits and restore original AI results. - Commit Edits / Commit AI Classification Edits 🆕
Finalizes accepted classification changes, making them permanent within the project and enabling downstream product generation
Cleanup tools are commonly used after:
Products
-
Generate Products
Initiates downstream product generation workflows that depend on classification results. -
Export LandXML TIN
Exports classified point clouds and derived surfaces for use in external applications or deliverables.
Classification‑based exports are often a downstream step after AI Ground Classification or manual refinement workflows.
