The Commit AI Classification Edits tool is part of a collection of Cleanup Tools on the AI Classification tab of the ribbon that finalizes AI classification results by explicitly applying the AI‑generated ground classifications and writing the chosen outcome to the LAS data. This step is required to make AI classification results permanent within the project.
What the Tool Does
When AI classification results exist, this tool allows you to:
- Accept AI results, replacing existing point classifications with the AI‑generated classifications, or
-
Reject AI results, preserving the original classifications. Discard the AI changes using Reset Classes
.
Until edits are committed, AI classification results are considered provisional and intended for review and QA/QC.
Confirmation Dialog
When you press Commit AI Classification Edits, LP360 displays a confirmation dialog to clearly indicate the exact classification change that will occur. For example:
“All points from AI Ground Class (23) are going to be moved to the Ground (2) class in LAS Layer: AI Ground LAS. Continue commit edits?”
This dialog confirms:
- Source class: the temporary or review class containing the AI Ground results (for example, AI Ground – Class 23).
- Target class: the final LAS classification that will be updated (for example, Ground – Class 2).
- Affected layer: the LAS layer where the changes will be applied.
Selecting Yes commits the AI classifications and updates the LAS data accordingly.
Selecting No cancels the operation and leaves the classifications unchanged.
Important Notes
- Committing AI edits is a deliberate, user‑confirmed action designed to prevent accidental overwriting of existing classifications.
- Once committed, AI classifications become the active classifications in the LAS data.
- Users working with custom class tables or review/staging classes should always verify the confirmation dialog before proceeding.
When to Use This Tool
- After completing QA/QC on AI classification results.
- When you are ready to adopt AI classifications as final deliverables.
- When you want explicit control over whether AI results replace existing classifications.
How to use the Commit AI Classification Edits tool
- Run an AI classification task.
- Review results using visualization, filters, and cleanup tools.
- Press Commit AI Classification Edits.
- Review the confirmation dialog to verify the source class, target class, and LAS layer.
- Confirm to permanently apply the AI classifications as your Ground (2) class, or cancel to retain existing data.
