The Commit Edits tool is part of a collection of Cleanup Tools on the AI Classification tab of the ribbon to help streamline the ground classification workflow. This action moves points from a temporary holding class into the standard LAS Ground (Class 2) classification.
What Commit Edits Does
During use of the Cleanup tool, points identified as ground edits are first placed into a temporary class so they can be reviewed before being finalized. Selecting Commit Edits
applies those changes by reclassifying the points as Ground (Class 2) in the LAS layer.
Confirmation Dialog
When Commit Edits is selected, LP360 displays a confirmation dialog similar to the following:
All points from the Temporary Ground (24) class are going to be moved to the Ground (2) class in LAS Layer: AI Ground LAS. Continue commit edits?
- Yes — Commits the edits and moves the points to Ground (Class 2).
-
No — Cancels the operation and leaves the points unchanged. Discard the Cleanup
changes using Reset Classes
.
This confirmation step helps prevent unintentional modification of LAS classifications.
Version Note (Important) 🆕
Starting in LP360 v2026.1, AI ground edits are stored in Temporary Ground (Class 24) prior to committing.
-
v2026.1 and newer:
- Temporary holding class: Temporary Ground (Class 24)
-
Earlier versions:
- Temporary holding class: Edits (Class 20)
The Commit Edits workflow remains the same, but users upgrading from earlier versions should be aware of this class number change when inspecting LAS data or applying class-based filters.
