The Manual Flight Lines tool, found on the Sensor tab of the ribbon, is used in conjunction with the Auto Create Flight Lines tool
, also found on the Sensor tab of the ribbon, as part of the step in the workflow where one takes the real-time trajectory of the flights and segments them into only those sections you need for data generation.
The flight lines are generated from the [XXX]_TrajectoryPoints layer. LP360 will use these points to create vectors representing the flight lines and add them to a layer called [XXX]_FlightLines.
How to manually create flight lines
- Flight lines may be added manually by selecting trajectory points (red points) at the beginning and end of the desired line.
- Select the Select/Edit Features
tool on the Feature Edit tab.
- Select a trajectory point at the beginning of the desired flight line. The point will be highlighted when selected.
- Hold CTRL, then select a trajectory point at the end of the flight line. Ensure it is on the same TrajectoryPoints layer. Both trajectory points should now be highlighted (Figure 1).
- Select the Select/Edit Features
Figure 1 – Manually Creating Flight Lines
- Select Manual Flight Lines
to create flight lines from the selected trajectory points.
- A new flight line feature is created on the FlightLines layer of the Cycle corresponding to the selected Trajectory Points.
- If the Auto Create Flight Lines dialog is not open, be sure to Save Feature Edits
on the Feature Edit tab to save the edits.
Note: If you select Trajectory Point patterns that do not form the required base for creating a flight line, you will receive an error message that explains the issue such as shown in Figure 2, "LP360 Error: Error with the selected Trajectory Points: There was a single selected 'start' point without a corresponding single 'end' point. A group of contiguous selected points were found instead.
Figure 2 - A pattern of Trajectory Points not compatible with forming a flight line
The flight lines are stored as a feature file (.SHP) for each each Cycle in the Project\Area\Cycle\Flight\Positions subfolder of your project.
