Appending LAS Files to an Existing LIDAR Layer
The Append option on the Add Files dialog box allows you to add the LAS files you are opening to an existing LIDAR Layer. If the criteria required for LAS files to be considered compatible match the files in the existing layer, then the files will be automatically added to the existing layer. If the criteria does not match completely, then a new layer will be created with the files being added. Each LAS file must have the coordinate system, the LAS format version, the Point Data Record Format, and the GPS time format in common to be considered compatible. See Add LAS Files File List for more information on how the information contained in the LAS files determines how the layers are created.

How to use the Append option in the Add Files dialog box
Click the Add Data command on the LP360 toolbar. The Add Files dialog will open.
Select the LAS files to open, as specified in Adding Files in LP360 for ArcMap or Adding Files in LP360 for Windows.
-
Check Append to Compatible Layers to recompute the map layer and add the selected LAS files to an existing map layer if one exists. Leaving this option unselected will create a new layer with only the selected LAS files, even if the compatibility criteria match that of an existing layer.
Note - If you do not want to append the selected LAS files to an existing layer, the new layer will be opened in the table of contents (TOC) as a NEW layer. You can rename the layer in the TOC after it is created.
Finish creating the LIDAR Layer as specified in Creating a LIDAR Layer in LP360 for ArcMap or Creating a Layer in LP360 for Windows and then click OK.
