Locking the Profile Line in the Window
Each time the profile is changed, the extent of the elevations for the points is changed. If the ranges of the elevation values differ significantly from one profile to the next, the points can begin to fall outside the window. You may lock the profile within the window to ensure that most profile points do not fall outside of the window as you step or pan the profile. Each time the profile is refreshed, the profile is snapped within the window using the minimum and maximum elevation that is the best fit for the set of points. The best fit or placement of the elevation range may hide outlier points from the window.
How to Lock the Profile Line in the Window
1. Press the Profile Lock icon to toggle the locked and unlocked state. You may also use the accelerator key "Ctrl+B" to execute the command.
2. If pressed, the profile is locked and profile points will not "walk" outside the window. If not pressed, the elevation range in the window stays the same, allowing the profile points to potentially "walk" outside the window.
