Requires an LP360 Land Standard and 3D Mesh Modeling add-on license for 3D Mesh Generation.
Requires an LP360 Land Standard and 3D Gaussian Splat add-on license for Gaussian Splat Generation.
The Modeling tool enables users to generate high-fidelity 3D Mesh models and Gaussian Splat directly from TrueView GO handheld sensor Cycles, transforming raw LiDAR and imagery data into immersive, navigable digital environments. This capability enhances workflows across AEC, forestry, heritage conservation, underground mining, and facility management.
Cycle Selection
Select the Cycles on which to perform the selected processing tasks. Use the Select All/Select None
buttons to assist.
Output Settings
- Settings: Select between Mesh Model and Gaussian Splat
- Output Folder: Select an output location to write the 3D Mesh or Gaussian Splat. Defaults to <LP360_Project_Folder>\Modeling
Key Features
-
Mesh Generation: Converts point cloud data into 3D mesh models using supported formats such as
.objand.osgb, compatible with external viewers like CloudCompare and Agisoft Metashape. - Gaussian Splat Generation: Converts point cloud data into Gaussian Splat using supported formats such as .PLY, compatible with LP360 Gaussian Splat Viewer and external viewers.
- Colorization Support: Initially limited to frame camera images, with future updates planned to support Insta360 imagery for enhanced realism.
- Workflow Integration: Seamlessly integrates into LP360's Immersive Viewer and processing workflows, with synchronized 2D/3D/profile views and measurement tools.
-
Licensing Flexibility: Available as an add-on to LP360 Land Standard or LP360 Drone. Activation is managed via the LP360 License Manager
, where users can check out the required add-on license alongside their base license.
Use Cases
- Survey Visualization: Create immersive 3D models for client presentations and site walkthroughs.
- Inspection & Analysis: Model static infrastructure or terrain for detailed inspection.
- Marketing & Training: Generate realistic visuals for promotional materials or training sessions.
How to use Modeling to Generate 3D Mesh
- Capture: Use TrueView GO handheld units with an activated Model Authorization to scan environments. Each scan generates a Cycle with LiDAR and RGB imagery.
-
Import: In LP360, import Cycles using the Cycle Import
tool.
- Process: As desired, apply ground classification, strip adjustment, and control point alignment using LP360’s tools.
-
Model: Select Generate Model using the Modeling
tool by selecting the desired Cycles.
- Select the Output folder
- When ready, select Submit Modeling Jobs to submit the task(s) to the Job Manager
.
- A message will appear showing the job (MDL=Modeling) has been sent to the Job Manager
.
- Open the Job Manager
to monitor the status of each MDL job. Once a job has finished processing, select the job and then Complete Job to complete the job and add the results to your project.
- Visualize: Explore the mesh model using a third party tool, such as CloudCompare and Agisoft Metashape.

📘Notes
- The Modeling tool is currently optimized for TrueView GO Cycles.
- New 3D Modelling Mesh and Gaussian Splatting Add-Ons Expand the Power of TrueView GO and LP360
- Human Subjects: The mesh modeling algorithm is not optimized for dynamic or organic subjects like people.
- Viewer Requirements: LP360 currently does not include a built-in mesh viewer; external software is required for full visualization. A built-in 3D Mesh viewer is coming soon.
