Modifying the Shortest Displayed Contour
Rough or flat areas can create many tiny isolated contours that do not meet cartographic standards or are not pleasing to the viewer's eye. You may specify the shortest distance a contour can be in order for it to be displayed on the screen.
The distance can be specified in inches (i.e., screen units) or map units. By default inches or screen units are used which dynamically eliminates contours as the map is zoomed in and out. Using map units is useful when printing or when the you wish to freeze the shortest contour distance as the map is zoomed in and out.
