This article explains how to update an existing LP360 installation. If you are installing LP360 for the first time, setting up a new machine, or need full licensing instructions, use the LP360 Installation Guide instead.
Before You Update
- Make sure you have local administrator rights on the machine where you will install the update.
- Close all LP360 sessions before you begin.
- Open File > License Manager
and check in a roamed floating license or deactivate a node-locked license before installing the update.
- If you are updating from a version earlier than LP360 2012.1, uninstall older LP360 programs before running the new installer.
Before updating, review the LP360 System Requirements.
If you need full installation or licensing instructions, see the LP360 Installation Guide.
Download the Update
You can get the latest LP360 installer in either of these ways:
- Use the Check for Updates
tool in LP360.
- Sign in to the LP360 Portal and open the Download page.
For older versions, use the LP360 Installers article.
Save the MSI file to a location that is easy to access, either on the local computer or on the network.
Install the Update
- Run the downloaded MSI file.
- If Windows displays a User Account Control prompt, select Yes.
- Complete the installer steps.
- Open LP360 after the installation finishes.
If You Are Updating from a Much Older Version
If you are updating from a version earlier than LP360 2012.1, uninstall all LP360 programs first:
- Open Programs and Features in Windows.
- Remove all LP360 programs from the program list.
- Run the current LP360 installer after the uninstall is complete.
If You See Error 1001 During the Update
If you see the following message while installing LP360 v2018.1 or later over an earlier version, uninstall all LP360 programs from the machine and then run the latest installer again:
Error 1001. Could not find file 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\LP360\LP360CustomActions.InstallState.'
If Licensing Is Not Preserved After the Update
In many cases, licensing is preserved when you update LP360. If it is not, open File > License Manager and sign in with your LP360 account.
- If you use a subscription license, make sure you are signed in and select the correct license from your organization’s license pool.
- If you use a perpetual license, LP360 will usually auto-populate the License String after you sign in. If it does not, copy the License String from your LP360 Portal > Admin > Organization section, and paste it into the License String field.
- If you use a floating perpetual license, select the license level you want and check out the license.
- If you use a node-locked perpetual license, select the license level you want and activate the node-locked license.
