Troubleshooting Agisoft Ortho Mapping Additional Metashape License Activation Error: “Can’t connect to activation server”

📌 Problem

Attempting to activate the additional license required for the Agisoft Ortho Mapping using the EXP tab of Project Settings results in an error, "Can't connect to activation server".

No nodelocked license found
No license server found
No response from activation server. Timeout was reached

RuntimeError: Can't connect to activation server

The error may also include a traceback referencing:

RuntimeError: Can't connect to activation server

Additional error variant: “No nodelocked license found / No license server found”

You may encounter the following activation error when running an Agisoft Ortho Mapping (MfC) job:

• No nodelocked license found
• No license server found
• Activation server: Error 403
• RuntimeError: Unexpected error occurred

The error dialog may also display a Python traceback referencing files such as:

LP360\M5P3\metashape_lic.py

This error indicates that Metashape was unable to acquire a valid license during activation. Although the message may appear different, this is the same underlying activation failure described in this article.

1. Upgrade to v2026.1 or later

   If you encounter a connection error, upgrade to LP360 v2026.1 or later which uses GeoCue’s license activation service at https://license-activation.online.lp360.com/photoengine. Direct access to activate.agisoft.com is not required.

2. Verify internet access to ​activate.agisoft.com​

   If you encounter a connection error, ensure that your network allows outbound HTTPS traffic to ​activate.agisoft.com​. This may involve checking firewall settings or proxy configurations.
