📌 Problem
When submitting some jobs in LP360 to the Job Manager , users may encounter the following messages:
- “License not available to run LDExport”
- “Failed to get license, job will keep in wait mode till the license is available”
These errors respectively indicate that the required license for executing the underlying LDExport or LPRunPCT executables behind the Export (LDE) and Point Cloud Task (PCT) job types is not currently available.
🔍 Root Causes
1. Single License Contention
If the user has only one LP360 desktop license, and it is already checked out by the LP360 desktop GUI, then LDExport or LPRunPCT may fail to initialize. These tools require a license independently and do not share the GUI session’s license.
2. Viewer Mode Preference Conflict
A known issue occurred when LP360 has been used in Viewer mode recently. Even if a valid license is available, LDExport may default to Viewer initialization and fail.
Note: This Viewer mode conflict was resolved in SP A, v2025.1.151.6. Users on v2025.1.151.6 or later should not experience this issue unless legacy preferences persist.
3. License Initialization Timing
LDExport and LPRunPCT jobs may fail if the license is not initialized correctly during job submission. This is especially true when using tools like “Generate Products” with options like “Apply Thinning”.
Note: This license initialization timing issue was resolved in SP A, v2025.1.151.6. Users on v2025.1.151.6 or later should not experience this issue unless legacy preferences persist.
âś… Probable Resolutions
Option 1: Free the License for Job Manager
- Close the LP360 desktop GUI after submitting LDExport or LPRunPCT jobs.
- This releases the floating license, allowing Job Manager
to use it.
Option 2: Switch to Viewer Mode for Monitoring
- In LP360, open License Manager
and check in the core license and take a Viewer license for the GUI instead.
- This allows you to monitor jobs in Job Manager
without consuming the license, making it available for the background process to use.
Tip: Viewer mode is available to any authenticated user signed into LP360 Online or using a Perpetual License String as of v2025.1.
Option 3: Assign Auto AI Ground Classification License
- Users who have been assigned the Auto AI Ground Classification cloud license can run LDExport and LPRunPCT jobs even if the user's single core license is unavailable.
- This license acts as a fallback and enables job execution in LP360 desktop.
📎 Additional Notes
- Use the LP360 Portal to monitor subscription license usage and assign cloud licenses as needed.
- The Auto AI Ground Classification license is part of LP360 Cloud and must be explicitly assigned to each user.
