🧠What Is a Repartition Issue?
In LP360 workflows using the Auto Find tool in the Control Report to detect Accuracy Stars, checkerboard or concentric circle targets, a repartition issue refers to a non-uniform distribution of point cloud data across a target used for control point estimation. This can lead to inaccurate center estimation of the target, affecting the geospatial accuracy of the survey.
LP360 flags a repartition issue when:
- The distribution of points across the target is uneven.
- Multiple runs of the algorithm yield inconsistent results.
- The target’s center cannot be reliably estimated due to poor point coverage.
These are warnings, not hard errors, but they can degrade the quality of your control point data.
⚠️ Causes of Repartition Issues
- Use of concentric circle targets with uneven point coverage.
- Low-quality or sparse point cloud data in the target area.
- Software limitations in earlier versions of LP360.
âś… Probable Resolutions
- Manual Review and Adjustment: Inspect flagged checkerboard or concentric targets and manually adjust their estimated positions if needed.
- Use Checkerboard Targets: Replace concentric targets with checkerboard targets to improve point distribution and algorithm reliability.
- Enable Target Size Settings: Add a dummy checkerboard target outside the project area to unlock the Target Size setting in LP360.
-
Update LP360 Software: Upgrade to version
v2025.1.151.6or later, which includes a patch for concentric target repartition errors.
âś… Best Practices
- Use checkerboard targets whenever possible for better consistency.
- Ensure even point cloud coverage across all targets during flight planning.
- Keep LP360 software up to date to benefit from the latest fixes and features.
