LP360 Exported LandXML is Incomplete in Civil 3D

Problem

When importing a LandXML TIN exported by LP360  into Civil 3D we are only getting a fraction of the project, while the same file worked fine in Carlson Survey - Free 3D LandXML Viewer.

Probable Resolution

LP360 is creating a basic version LandXML. The current Civil 3D settings needed for successful import, based on client feedback, are as follows:

• Run the LandXML import command.
• Select your LandXML file and click open.
• On the Import LandXML dialogue, select the Edit Import Settings... button.
• In the LandXML Import Settings dialog, expand the Surface Import Settings node.
• Change the Surface Data value from full import to quick import.
• Select the OK button to close the LandXML Import Settings dialogue.
• Select OK on the Import LandXML dialog to import the surface.

The full import includes both points and faces, while the quick import only includes the points.

This should be a useful solution in the short term. The longer-term plan is to support higher versions of LandXML.
