LP360 offers 3 options for classifying ground points. Each of these options has its own set of requirements and/or inputs.
NOTE: Both cloud options require the Auto AI Ground Classification license add-on to use.
Ground Classification Options in LP360

Traditional Ground Classification
- Also referred to as the Adaptive TIN Method
- Performed through LP360 Desktop only.

- Compatible with all version of LP360.

- Most hands-on approach that includes the most control over parameters.
- Requires execution of multiple Point Cloud Tasks (PCTs).

Classic Cloud Ground Classification
- Still an Adaptive TIN Method, but with a user friendly interface

- Five parameters with preset options available for convenience.

- Executed through the LP360 Cloud only.
- Still an Adaptive TIN Method, but with a user friendly interface

AI Cloud Ground Classification
- Only requires input data
- LAS data must be organized in a regular orthogonal grid of tiles, each approximately 250MB to 3GB in size (maximum task size >30GB)
- Executed through LP360 Cloud in web browser or directly from LP360 Desktop.

- LP360 Desktop execution only eligible for LP360 version 2025.1 or newer.
