ASCII Import Wizard
The ASCII Import Wizard provides a flexible way to define the necessary settings for converting ASCII text files to LAS Files. The ASCII Import Wizard can support many different formats of ASCII files containing LIDAR points. With few exceptions, no preparation should be required to import the text files in their original state.
To open the ASCII Import Wizard in ArcMap, click the LP360 drop-down arrow on the LP360 toolbar to expand the menu. Then click Import > Import from ASCII 'XYZ+' Point Files.
To open the ASCII Import Wizard in LP360 for Windows, click File > Import from ASCII XYZ.
The wizard involves four steps that are required to describe the settings necessary for converting to LAS Files. Once the minimum required inputs are provided for each step, you will click Next to continue to the next step. The Back button may be used at any time throughout the wizard to go back to any of the four steps. Once all inputs have been provided, clicking Finish completes the import process.
- Step 1: Selecting ASCII Files to Import
- Step 2: Selecting a Text Format and Start Row
- Step 3: Define how the text is separated (The dialog that appears for step 3 depends on the delimiter setting made in step 2.)
-
OR - Step 4: Defining the Fields to Import
