LP360 2013.2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Release Notes
Modifications of Existing Features
- Performance improvements to for Export command
The performance of exporting the gridded outputs (through the Export command) has been improved. Depending upon the dataset size, the performance improvement can be 2 to 5 times the performance of the pre-SP edition. - This includes performance of Volumetric Analysis.

- Conflation task outputs of volumetric macros can now be added to the Table of Contents in the map.
- Added context help support to predefined Volumetric macros.
- Default Z Value Compute Method on Conflate Point Cloud Task
Changed the default Z value compute method on Conflate Point Cloud Task from “Mean Z” to “Closest Z”. -

LP360 2013.2 Release Notes
New Features
- Volumetrics Analysis
LP360’s new Volumetrics Analysis capability allows you to perform volumetric computations using combinations of 3D polygons and point clouds. Two polygons of the same area over an amount of time are compared, and the positive and negative values of the polygons are computed. You can choose the resulting output to be attributes in a data table, a Cut/Fill TIFF image, and/or an output LAS file. Predefined Volumetrics macros are also available for convenience. These macros include many of the parameters already set for a specific task, so that setup time is minimal.
- Z Conflation
The new Z Conflation in Point Cloud Tasks allows you to compute a Z value for vector data from point clouds. Z Conflation already existed in LP360 prior to this release, but it is now available as a PCT. The implementation of Z Conflation as a PCT, however, now allows it to be chained as a macro.
- I/O Manager
The new I/O Manager is the new efficient tool that you use to specify input and output files, in addition to other settings related to the inputs and outputs. This intuitive tool opens to the input/output setting you need to specify according to where you are in your workflow, while listing others you have already specified for the task you are doing. Currently, this tool is used with the Volumetrics Analysis, Z Conflation, and extractor PCTs, but the next release will include expanded use of it.
- New Point Cloud Task Drawing Tools
The new point cloud task drawing tools provide the ability to directly digitize points, lines, and polygons from the PCT toolbar. The Execute by Point and Execute by Line tools were added as a part of the new Z Conflation PCT functionality. These tools are currently only used in Z Conflation PCTs.
- New Point Cloud Task Rename and Copy Selected Commands
The new Rename Selected Task command allows you to change the name of the active point cloud task. The Copy Selected Task command allows you to copy the task selected in the task list.
- Japanese and Spanish versions of LP360
As a part of the ongoing work to internationalize LP360, Japanese and Spanish versions of LP360 are now available.
- Add Files Dialog Box
The new Add Files dialog gives you more control for opening files and managing layers at the time files are opened. You can also drag-and-drop from Windows Explorer into this dialog box.
- Run by Feature Layer and Run by Feature Layer Indirect PCT Tools added as a replacement of the Execute Point Cloud Task Dialog
The Run by Feature Layer and Run by Feature Layer Indirect commands, available on the PCT toolbar, replace the Execute Point Cloud Task dialog. The new Run by Feature Layer command executes a task on a vector layer. The Run by Feature Layer Indirect command executes a task based on a field in the attribute table. As a part of these changes, the Run by Polygon command is used only by these two new commands, and the Project button (which previously opened the Execute Point Cloud Task dialog) now functions as a ‘run task’ button. It will operate on a task that has all inputs specified, even if that task does not operate on LAS data.
- New Auto-calculate Cell Size in Export
Cell size is now auto-calculated based on the density of the LAS data.
- Support for 256 classes for LAS 1.4
256 classes are now supported to coincide with LAS 1.4 format support.
- Z (dz) Imagery Support
Real-time Delta Z (dz) imagery is now supported in real-time display in the map and can be exported from LIDAR data using the LP360 Export Wizard.
- Density Map Support
LP360 now includes support for real-time Density Map display. Density maps can also be exported using the LP360 Export Wizard.
- Filter by Scan Angle Display Option
A new display option in the map is a Filter by Scan Angle option.
- Framing and Ladybug 360 Image Support
Support for framing cameras and Point Grey Research Ladybug images has been added. Note that this is an experimental feature that requires an image definition file. Geocue with the Mobile Mapping System (MMS) CuePac is currently required for creating this file. - Floating point and 32-bit per Channel support
Floating point and 32-bit per channel image display is now available. - ArcGIS Desktop 10.2 Compatible
This version of LP360 is compatible with ArcGIS Desktop version 10.2.
Modifications to Existing Features
- Point Cloud Task defaults to the active LAS Layer
The PCT now defaults to the active LAS Layer instead of having to choose it.
- Minimum cell size in LDExport is 0.25
The minimum cell size in LDExport is now 0. 25.
- LAS filenames included as an attribute in export
LAS filenames have been added as an attribute to index shapefile exports.
- Changed location of shape layer in TOC
The Shape layer in LP360 for Windows is now listed at the top of the TOC rather than the bottom of the TOC.
- LAS data now has recursive option to export
LAS data can now be read from a file or folder with a recursive option to export. Previously, only the active layer was used. Crash report availability
Crash reports are now available via LDExport. - Add Geometry Coordinates availability
The Add Geometry Coordinates are now available when using the Identify command in LP360 for Windows. - File boundary display default setting
The file boundary display is now turned off by default. - Display by Source ID command automatically populates symbology
The Display by Source ID command now automatically populates the symbology if it is the first time a user is running the command and sources have not yet been mapped. - Add to map option when exporting
A new check box on the last page of the Export Wizard allows you to add the outputs of an export to the map view after exporting the products. - Active point cloud tasks can now be run with Project button
The Execute by Project command on the Point Cloud Task toolbar now allows you to run the active point cloud task as long as all inputs and outputs of the task have been specified. - Ability to create ESRI Spatial Reference object
The ability to create an ESRI Spatial Reference object from an LP360 Spatial Reference object has been added. - Intensity min and max can now be equal
The min and max values on the Point Source ID tab, Intensity tab of the Properties dialog can now be equal. - Constant Z option for Summarize Z
A Constant Z option is now available for the Summarize Z Conflate method. - Extractor Point Cloud Tasks modification
All extractor point cloud tasks were modified so that output datasets are specified on the task itself.
