Here is a little trick for when you want to create a grid in LP360. Use the new Classify by Statistics Point Cloud Task (PCT) found in the release version of 2015.1 or later. 
Voila! A Grid in the shapefile format with no modified source points. Why would you want to do this? Combined with the Point Cloud Statistics Extractor PCT and the Attribute Editor, you can do all sorts of data analysis.
- Set the source points to the Class(es) for which to create the grid
- Set the Destination to Flags Only but set all radio buttons to Ignore. This will cause LP360 to do nothing to the source points. And is a bit easier than setting a flag and then clearing, etc.
- Set the grid to cover all points or source points, as desired.
