Error setting active layer

User encounters an error message when starting ArcMap with the LP360 for ArcGIS extension stating, "Error setting active layer". If the user clicks through this error message, basic functionality and display issues will occur, often times leading to software crashes.

Probable Resolution #1:

The crash is happening because ArcMap and/or LP360 is not properly installed and/or registered. Re-installing ArcMap and LP360, ensuring to right-click on the setup executable and select "Run As Administrator" when reinstalling ArcMap. This needs to be done in order for Windows to allow the COM objects used by both programs to register correctly.

Probable Resolution #2:

Try specifically running the ESRI COM registrations.
