📌 Problem
During Agisoft Ortho Mapping, orthomosaic generation fails with the following error:
There is not enough space on the disk (112)
🔍 Root Cause
Either there is no enough space on the local hard drive or in the C hard drive.
Or the default automatically selected Ground Sample Distance (GSD) may be too small, resulting in an excessively large orthomosaic. The automatic GSD was 0.005 ft (approximately 1.5 mm). This created an orthomosaic with a very large size, causing the TIFF creation process to fail even though sufficient disk space was available.
🧠 What is Ground Sample Distance (GSD)?
Ground Sample Distance (GSD) is the ground size represented by each pixel in the orthomosaic.
Smaller GSD values produce higher resolution imagery but also dramatically increase the size of the output raster. A GSD of 0.005 ft (1.5 mm) is exceptionally small and may generate orthomosaics that are unnecessarily large for most projects.
✅ Probable Resolutions
1. Make enough space in the local and C hard drive
At least 200 GB of free space is recommended on both the local processing drive and the C: drive. Agisoft Orthomapping may use the Windows temporary folder located on the C: drive during processing, so adequate free space should be available on both drives.
2. Manually Increase the GSD
- Open the Agisoft Ortho Mapping settings.
- Expand Advanced Settings.
- Disable Automatic GSD Selection.
- Enter a manual GSD value, such as 0.03 ft (approximately 1 cm).
- Re-run the orthomosaic generation.
The customer confirmed that changing the GSD from 0.005 ft (1.5 mm) to 0.03 ft (1 cm) resolved the issue.
