- Windows operating systems
📌 Problem
When running trajectory processing, LP360 fails with the following error message:
boost::interprocess_exception: Access is denied
Trajectory processing stops immediately and no results are generated.
🔍 Root Cause
This error indicates that Windows is preventing LP360 from accessing or creating required temporary or intermediate files during trajectory processing.
The issue is not caused by GNSS, IMU, base station data, or trajectory quality. It is almost always related to one of the following:
- Insufficient file or folder permissions
- Security software (antivirus / EDR) blocking file or interprocess access
- Project files located in protected or network locations
- Files locked by another application or a prior LP360 session
✅ Probable Resolutions
Move the Project to a Local, Writable Folder
Ensure the LP360 project is stored in a fully writable local directory, such as:
C:\LP360_Projects\ProjectName
Avoid running projects from:
Program Filesor other system folders- The root of
C:\ - Network drives
- OneDrive or other sync-enabled folders
Close LP360 and Restart Windows
A system restart clears locked files and orphaned background processes that can block trajectory processing.
Run LP360 as Administrator
Right-click the LP360 shortcut and select Run as administrator. If this resolves the issue, it confirms a permission-related cause.
Check Antivirus or Endpoint Security Software
Some antivirus or endpoint protection tools block shared memory or temporary file creation used during trajectory processing.
If possible, add exclusions for:
- The LP360 installation directory
- The project directory
- Windows temporary file locations
Review the Antivirus Exceptions for LP360 and Applanix POSPac
Verify No Other LP360 Sessions Are Running
Open Windows Task Manager and confirm there are no background LP360 processes running. If found, end those tasks before retrying trajectory processing.
📚 Additional Notes
- This error does not indicate corrupted trajectory data.
- This issue is environmental and typically resolved by adjusting permissions or file locations.
- If the issue persists after following all steps above, contact LP360 Support with details about your IT security environment.
